White Street to Falls Lake

Wake Forest Window Tinting

Wake Forest College started here and left for Winston-Salem in the 1950s. The old campus is now a seminary, the railroad-side downtown on White Street has filled back up with shops, and the farmland toward Falls Lake has become neighborhoods.

White Street Window Film in Downtown Wake Forest

Downtown Wake Forest is a short run of brick commercial buildings beside the railroad tracks, holding restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, a few offices and a busy calendar of street events. The storefronts on the west side of White Street face east, with the tracks behind them, so their worst glare is the low morning sun, which lands right on the coffee bar and the display tables during the busiest hours of the day.

Morning sun is cooler than afternoon sun, so the complaint here is more often glare and fading than heat. A clear UV film handles the fading and a light neutral film tames the glare without darkening the shop. The downtown is a National Register historic district, and clear interior film is the conservative choice; we suggest owners check with town planning first.

Professional offices in the upstairs and side-street spaces often want frosted film on the lower glass so desks are not on display to the sidewalk, while the upper glass stays clear for light.

Commercial Window Film on Capital Boulevard and NC 98

Most of Wake Forest's newer business space lines Capital Boulevard (US 1) and NC 98: shopping centers built around a supermarket, plus restaurants, doctors, dentists, bank branches and a scattering of small office buildings. The buildings are low and spread across parking lots, and the west-facing ones take the full afternoon.

Medical practices are a large share of this work. Exam rooms and waiting rooms facing parking get frosted film on the lower glass. Retail and restaurants take light solar film to keep the front of the room comfortable. Office buildings with bands of glass on the west get solar control film, and we prepare the landlord submittal for multi-tenant buildings.

Window Film for Old Houses Near the Seminary and New Houses Near Falls Lake

The streets around the old campus and downtown hold some of the oldest houses in Wake County: frame houses with tall windows, deep porches and old glass, under oaks that shade most of the facade. Those owners mainly want UV protection for floors and furniture and some relief from drafty single-pane sash in winter. Clear UV film and low-E film both go on the inside of the glass, leaving the historic exterior unchanged.

On the other side of town, neighborhoods such as Heritage and the subdivisions toward Falls Lake are mostly two-story houses with bonus rooms and big rear windows. Homes with a lake or open-field view take glare from both the sky and the water. A neutral glare film reduces the brightness and keeps the view, and HOAs there generally accept neutral, low-reflectance products.

Wake Forest Power, Duke Energy and Window Film

Wake Forest operates its own electric utility, Wake Forest Power, for part of the town, while other addresses are served by Duke Energy or an electric cooperative. Your bill shows which one you have. The utility does not change how film works: it reduces the solar heat entering through sunny glass, which matters most on summer afternoons.

We supply manufacturer performance data for each film so you or an energy auditor can estimate the effect on your building. We do not quote bill savings, because they depend on insulation, equipment and habits as much as on the glass.

Wake Forest Window Film Questions and Answers

Who sells electricity in Wake Forest, and does it matter for film?

Part of town buys from Wake Forest Power and other areas from Duke Energy or a cooperative. Film performs the same with any utility, since it works on the sunlight hitting the glass.

Our White Street shop faces east. Do we need heat film?

Often not. Morning glare and fading are the bigger issues for east-facing storefronts, so a clear UV film or a light neutral film is usually enough.

Does Heritage's HOA approve tint?

Neutral, low-reflectance films generally pass review. Attach our spec sheet to your architectural request before scheduling.

Can film go on old wavy glass near the seminary?

Usually, if the panes are sound. We inspect each one first and use clear products that keep the old glass visible.
