Security Window Film in Raleigh
Thick, clear safety film for back doors, French doors, sidelights and basement windows. Broken glass stays stuck to the film, so a break-in takes longer and makes more noise, and the house looks no different.

Energy-Saving Window Film in Raleigh
Targets the solar heat gain that drives summer cooling bills on a Triangle house. Low-E options also hold back some heat loss through older glass when January turns cold.
Energy-Saving Window Film detailsHome Window Film for Raleigh's Older Neighborhoods
Inside the Beltline, a lot of houses date from the late 1800s through the 1940s. Oakwood and Mordecai have tall double-hung wood windows, some still with original wavy glass. Five Points, Hayes Barton and Cameron Park have brick and frame houses from the 1920s with sunporches, French doors and big oaks overhead. Owners there usually want the windows to look untouched from the sidewalk.
Clear and near-clear films suit those houses. They block nearly all ultraviolet light, take some heat off the sunniest panes and leave the old glass visible. Before installing on antique glass we look each pane over for cracks, crumbling glazing compound and old paint lapped onto the glass, since film needs a sound, clean surface. Interior film is normally a minor matter in a local historic district, but we suggest a call to the Raleigh Historic Development Commission staff if you are unsure.
Window Tinting for New Homes in Cary, Apex and Wake Forest
The suburbs ringing Raleigh have grown fast, and much of that growth is two-story houses on cleared lots with young trees. Bonus rooms over garages, two-story family rooms with tall windows and open kitchens with big sliders take full sun for years before any shade grows in. Those are the rooms people ask us to fix first.
Newer houses usually have dual-pane, often low-E, builder windows. That brings two checks before film goes on: whether the window maker's warranty allows film, and whether the film is approved for that glass. HOAs are the third check. Most allow neutral, low-reflectance film and object to mirror finishes on the street side, so we bring samples and specs your architectural committee can review.
Choosing Residential Window Film Room by Room
We rarely film an entire house with one product. West-facing bedrooms and bonus rooms get the strongest heat film. South glass often gets something lighter, because winter sun is welcome warmth in the Triangle. Living rooms with good furniture and floors may only need clear UV film. Bathrooms and street-facing rooms get privacy film, and back doors and sidelights get security film.
That approach costs less than treating every pane the same way and keeps the house feeling bright. During the visit we tape samples to the glass on each side of the house, so you can see the difference in the light you actually live with.

Residential Window Film Care Through Triangle Seasons
After installation, film needs to cure. In dry spring weather that can be quick; during humid summer stretches it takes longer, and a slight haze or a few water pockets may linger for a couple of weeks. Leave the windows alone until they clear.
After that, care is simple. A microfiber cloth and a little ammonia-free glass cleaner are all it takes. During pollen season, rinse the yellow dust from the glass instead of wiping it off dry, which can scratch the film surface. Avoid razor blades and abrasive pads, and filmed windows should look clear for many years.
Raleigh Home Window Tinting Questions
Can window film go on old wavy glass in an Oakwood house?
Usually yes, if the pane is sound. We check for cracks, loose putty and paint on the glass before installing, and use clear film that keeps the old glass character visible from the street.
Will my HOA allow residential tint?
Associations around the Triangle generally approve neutral films that read as ordinary glass from the street; mirrored or colored looks are what get questioned. We supply specs and samples for your committee packet.
Is window film useful in a Raleigh winter?
Low-E products slow the escape of indoor warmth through the glass after dark. Ordinary heat control film does little in winter, which is one reason we often go lighter on south windows that collect free warmth from the low December sun.
How long does a residential install take?
Most houses are finished in a day. Large homes, tall foyer windows or many divided lites can take longer, and we give you a time estimate with the quote.
Is window film safe on dual-pane builder windows?
It is when the film is approved for that glass. Some combinations absorb too much heat and stress the pane, so we confirm the glass type and the film maker's compatibility guidance first.
