Research Triangle Park Window Film

Solar Control Film for RTP Office and Lab Buildings

RTP's buildings span several generations. The earliest campuses have long, low buildings with ribbon windows and tinted single-pane or early insulated glass. Later buildings added mid-rise offices and dedicated lab buildings with large insulated units and more advanced coatings. Each generation needs a different film approach.

Older buildings with single-pane tinted glass often benefit the most from solar control film, since their glass does little to stop heat. Newer buildings with high-performance glass need careful film selection to avoid thermal stress, and sometimes the right answer is a light film or none at all. We identify the glazing on each elevation before recommending anything.

Labs add constraints of their own: tight temperature and humidity targets, equipment that cannot be moved and rooms that cannot be entered without escorts or gowning. Solar film on the sunny elevations reduces the load that lab HVAC systems have to handle, and we plan the install sequence with lab managers.

Frosted and Security Film for RTP Secure Areas

Many RTP tenants handle confidential research, product development and customer data. Glass-walled labs, conference rooms and offices along visitor routes need privacy that blinds do not reliably deliver. Frosted film, dense patterns and full-height frosting block sight lines while passing light.

Ground-floor glass at entries, loading areas and server rooms is a candidate for security film that holds broken glass together and slows forced entry. We work with corporate security on placement and provide documentation for their records. Some tenants also want film on glass facing public roads or neighboring campuses so that whiteboards and prototypes are not visible from outside the building.

• Solar control film matched to each building generation
• Frosted film for labs, conference rooms and visitor routes
• Security film for entries and sensitive rooms
• Shutdown-week and weekend installation

Research Triangle Park Window Film Projects With Campus Facilities

RTP campuses are usually managed by in-house facilities teams or large property management firms, with their own vendor onboarding, insurance requirements, safety orientation and badge access. We complete onboarding early so it does not delay the project.

Large campuses often want a building-wide or campus-wide film standard, phased over months. We survey the buildings, identify the glazing types, propose a schedule by elevation and building, and install during shutdown weeks, holiday periods or weekends. Mockups on a typical elevation let stakeholders see the result before the full rollout. Campus projects also tend to involve several departments, from facilities and security to the lab groups and the energy team, so we keep one point of contact and send written updates after each phase.

Energy Reporting and Window Film in RTP

Many companies in the park have corporate sustainability goals and report energy use across their portfolios. Solar control film reduces cooling energy on sunny elevations, and energy managers often want data to include in their reporting.

We provide the manufacturer's published performance data for each film, including solar heat gain and visible light transmission, so the energy team or their consultant can model the effect on each building. We do not promise specific savings, since results depend on the building, the systems and how they are run.
